Group Business Meeting

On a very rainy, blustery Monday evening a number of hardy souls turned out for the Group Business meeting here at Leigh on Mendip. Plans were discussed for the forthcoming meetings in March and October. also we talked about the summer social - which may be great fun, with a Murder Mystery event! We've had to come up with something pretty spectacular to follow the Olympics!

From our own point of view, as hosts for the March meeting on 25th, we need to come up with a light supper and an entertainment to round off the evening. Thanks to Val, Gill, Sue V and Barbara..... We have a stunning plan for the entertainment! All will be explained at our next meeting! What fun!

Birthday Party Postponed!

Due to the inclement weather we have decided to move the party forward by one week to
Friday 1 February, 7.30pm

At Mary's house instead of Barbara's so that it's a bit more central. We'll share cars so that there are no parking issues!

Please let me know you are coming and then I can try to arrange some car sharing.

Film Club

Marguerite, Sue and I went to see Quartet today at the cinema in Wells. Full of music, lovely scenery and plenty of laughs! We saw trailers for several more films we would like to see!
Let me know if you would like to join us next time.

First meeting of the Year

Gamesmaker Richard gave an enthusiastic recount of his experiences at the Paralympics. We were all enthralled! We enjoyed every minute, and actually didn't have time for our own games!

Denman College Course

Well, here I am after my first night at the fabulous Denman College! I'm staying in a very comfortable room decorated by Cowplain WI (they've even supplied a good poetry book, so I shall be  able to choose my piece for our birthday party!). My course is about colour -  the fundamentals. Last evening's session was very interesting; quite hard work, too.
The food and the company have been excellent so far!

Now it's Saturday evening and I'm feeling very enthusiastic indeed about this whole painting business! There are 6 of us on the course, and we were concentrating so hard this afternoon that we hardly said a word for a couple of hours! Attempting to imitate the tones used by a great artist demands focus and attention to detail!  We're attempting a still life tomorrow!

Just checking in for the final time! my bag is packed, I'm full of breakfast and waiting for the course to start! It is really quite daunting as the still life composition will involve so much more than what we attempted yesterday! The tutor is very experienced and encouraging, so I shall certainly have the best opportunity to create something!

Using the Leigh on Mendip bursary for this lovely weekend has been very special, thank you all!

home safely now!

Film Club

Is anyone free on Thursday 17 January for the 3pm showing of "Quartet"? Let me know by Monday if so, and I will book tickets for us.
Mary, Marguerite and I went over this afternoon to see it, but it was full! So, clearly we need to book our tickets for this one! It does look good!

Tea and cake at The Good Earth proved to be an excellent alternative!
