Unfortunately, our poor speaker, Gill, was taken ill and could not attend yesterday's meeting. We all wish her a speedy recovery.
We spent the time coming up with ideas for a May outing - the favourite being a day trip to Weymouth on Saturday 11 May, possibly on the train? I shall look into the costs involved. Other ideas were to go to Sidmouth and visit the Donkey Sanctuary, or the Shoe Museum in Street....
(Later, the same day! I've looked at rail fares and it would really be much cheaper, of course, if we do some car sharing. Shame, as I think quite a few of us were hankering after the memory of a childhood trip on the train to the sea side!)
Also, we agreed that a simple banner with our name would be ideal, created from as much recycled green and white or cream cotton fabric as possible. At next month's meeting we'll cut out the letters (from templates) ready for them to be sewn (by machine) by willing volunteers! Please let me know if you have (or perhaps if you find an appropriate duvet cover in a charity shop) any fabric you can bring. Also, if you have some fairly strong fabric, heavy duty material we could use to make the backing.
Then, we read some poems, and standards dropped! There was much laughter, some spitting (yes!) and lots more laughter. It really was very funny!
Here is the layout for the bags we are planning to sell at the fair. What do you think? I've chosen dark green this time. Please let me know if you approve!
Check your email tomorrow for more details.
