Welcome
& apologies: Sparks welcomed everyone. Apologies received from Mary, Shelagh, Jean,
Annie & Gill.
Minutes
& matters arising: The minutes
were signed as a true record. Sparks had contacted the national Cooperative
Society to ask for a speaker on ‘Fairtrade and the supermarket’, which had been
passed to the local Coop. The design for
the calico bags had been received and could be viewed on the blog. Members had enjoyed their lunch at The George
in Nunney. Banner project: it was
decided to create a simplified name banner and members were asked to bring
fabric (green/white patterned, cotton-like) and scissors to the next
meeting.
County
News: Members were asked to read the
News, add their names to the event lists on the table and the following were
pointed out – the page 3 girl, the WI Moodle and the visit to Wyke Farm, which
was highly recommended.

Alternative outings suggested: Weymouth by train, Shoe Museum in Street,
Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary or the train from Bishop’s Lydeard to Minehead
possibly on May 11. To be
investigated.
§ Village Country Fair 15 June. Val wondered whether the WI could run an
activity for children alongside the produce stall

The food bank in Truro had also been
giving casual lessons in using the food.
The Frome food bank would provide us with a speaker in May and when
offered food workshops they expressed interest and would consider it.
Members were thanked for their contributions to the
nearly new sale, which had raised £150 for the church.
Memorial Hall quiz on 23 March – Jan P, Caroline,
Sparks +1.
Barbara had been to Greys Court, the home of Lady
Brunner who had a building named after her at Denman College and 60 years ago
suggested the ‘Keep Britain Tidy’ resolution.
Unfortunately our speaker was unwell so after
refreshments we practised out entertainment for the Group meeting, with much
hilarity.
